Gorgeous Russian Orthodox Church. You do not go inside.
Peter & Paul Fortress Rating:
Very disappointed we did not go inside the church where the Czars are suppose to be buried. We walked around outside and then went to the Church of Spilled Blood then to a souvenir shop. The tour guide did point out other points of interest and she was very knowledgeable.
Russian Ballet Show Rating:
This was an evening event. The group was very talented and their costumes were gorgeous. The theater was too warm and the seats were literally wooden benches covered with fabric. Very hard to enjoy show after two hours.
We took a bus tour to two old 11Th century structures and had a typical Latvian lunch. Very enjoyable. Lots of walking. Our guide was very nice and she had a beautiful singing voice. Folk singing is big in Latvia. Overall a beautiful country.
The ship actually docks in Gdynia not Gdansk. We took the bus tour to the Stuttgart Concentration camp. It was about an hour ride on some very rough roads. Then you walk around the camp for about 45 minutes after seeing a movie. Very moving exhibit. Not for young children, great for teens.
You are taken to an old church,to a fishing village and to a scenic overlook which allows you to see the ship at anchor and the town of Visby. The wildflowers were everywhere and the island is really pretty. The town is nice and very picturesque. My favorite port. You also do a walking tour of the town. You have to tender at this port and shore excursions get off the ship first. Plenty of time for shopping after.
