We didn't like any of the excursions offered by the ship so we got the free shuttle bus from the port into town and along with our map found our own way around. Trondheim has it's nice parts and it's not so nice parts with eastern Europeans sitting in the street begging, but then we ignored them and had a couple of hours looking around before going back to the ship as it had started to rain.
We didn't do any excursions in Bergen and again took the free shuttle bus into town along with our map. We went through the town to the Fish Market which is a must see with it's array of fish & seafood which you can sit and eat at reasonable prices. We then went onto the Bryggen to see Old Bergen which has narrow alleyways and wooden houses turned into fashionable local stores which were fascinating. Unfortunately the day we was there, five large ships were in port with loads of people of all nationalities milling around. Definitely would like to go back to Bergen one day to see more.
