Barcelona is worth extra time at the beginning or end of a cruise. We loved it! It's easy to get around via taxi, with set fare rates, Metro and on foot. La Rambla is interesting and visitor friendly. Loved the market and the restaurant found in back of it. Barri Gotic is wonderful for exploring. Love the Parc Guell, the Sagrada Familia and Picasso Museum. Two can share the Metro's 10 euro card for 5 rides each. That's about what you need in a couple of days there.

Cannes is okay for walking around but nothing special. We walked up to the castle for the views and enjoyed the winding passageways. Friends on board told us the excursion they took here was very unpleasant because of the quality of the guide, bus breakdown, etc.

Florence (Livorno)
City Tour Rating: Not Rated
Glad it started out with the view from the hill overlooking Florence. Wish we could have gone to the Uffizi Gallery and inside the Duomo, but time was limited. The lunch was just okay. The room was quite elegant, and the wine was nice, but the food was rather ordinary.

Rome (Civitavecchia)
Colosseum Rating: 5.0 out of 5+
Excellent tour with fantastic guide! This was the Imperial Rome tour through Celebrity. Colosseum is very, very, very crowded.

Historic Tour Rating: 5+ out of 5+
Walked from Trevi to and through Forum and then to Colosseum. Guide was wonderful at explaining what we were seeing with knowledge and humor.

St. Peter's Square Rating: 5.0 out of 5+
Because it was Sunday afternoon, this was not crowded and very enjoyable, albeit hot. Entered St. Peter's without a wait and enjoyed it very much.

Trevi Fountain Rating: 4.0 out of 5+
Crowded but had to do it.

Words cannot describe how lovely this is. Take a good camera. You'll be glad you did!

Pompeii Walking Tour Rating: 4.0 out of 5+
Wear sturdy shoes, wear a hat and take water. Very interesting but strenuous in hot weather.

We walked here on our own and thoroughly enjoyed this quaint walled city. The sail away is the best part, however. The views are incredibly beautiful as the ship goes through the fjord.

Dubrovnik

Dubrovnik has a lovely location and the scenery is gorgeous, but it's terribly crowded in July and very, very hot. We finally located the cable car for a ride up the mountain. This is worth the effort and cost. I imagine Dubrovnik is very nice in April or September, but I'd avoid it in July.
