This was a fun tour, we just thought it was a bit pricey for what we did. The company had a brand new nice enclosed boat with large windows. We were able to see some bald eagles along the route to the crab pots. We got to hold the crabs from the crab pots that the tour guide pulled out of the water. The best part of the excursion was the crab feast. It was the best crab I have ever had. The blueberry cheesecake was pretty great too.
We also went shopping for a little while and were shocked with how cheap some of the items were. We stocked up on fleeces for $15-20 dollars and t-shirts for $12-15 dollars. If you want a fleece or jacket while in Alaska, this is the port to get it in.
This is a very small port with little to do other than excursions. The ship actually tendered out in the water and small motor boats took us to the pier. Once we got to the pier, we just had to walk up to where the excursion desk was to check in. When it was time, we were fitted with helmets and selected bikes. We were a little disappointed in the quality of bikes. The one I rode didn't have a working right brake which made me a little nervous, and you might get a bike that is either too big or too small for your body. It was nice to do something active, but we just rode along the main road and saw a little bit of the town. Others did whale/bear watching and had a great time. We wish we had spent the extra money to go whale watching here.
The Bike and Brew Glacier View was one of our favorite excursions. The tour guides were funny and friendly, and very concerned for your safety. We were fitted with helmets and bikes. The equipment was nice and the tour guide made sure you got the correct size bike for your body. The scenery along the bike route was some of the most amazing I have ever seen. We were really happy that we got to see the Mendenhall Glacier as part of the tour. The beer tasting at the end was really fun. We were really glad we booked this tour.
We did the White Pass Railway and Yukon Adventure in Skagway. For the first part, we rode the train to Canada. The sights and views were absolutely beautiful. The train was comfy too. After the train ride, we were greeted by our motor coach which then took us further into Canada to the Yukon Territory sign. We stopped a couple of times to take scenic pictures or pictures with signs. We stopped for lunch at a little cafe that served bison chili, which was pretty good and then the motor coach took us back to the ship. We were really happy with this excursion.
