If you are not going to Ephesus, there is little to do other than shop but its a pretty place. Pigeon Island is worth a visit although more could be made of it.
So much history to see. The Old Town was very atmospheric and within easy walk of the port. Both the Archaeological museum and the Grand Palace are worth a visit.
Only opened again in April and worth a visit. If you go independently take a good guide book as there are few signs explaining what you are seeing. A visit to the museum in Thira afterwards put it all into context very well
Chania is very pretty with examples of the various layers of occupation clearly still visible. It wa the hottest day of the cruise, so we didn't see a lot before returning to the coolness of the ship. Fellow passengers who went to Knossos, enjoyed their visit,
