It POURED rain while we were in Key West. Most passengers seemed to make the best of it though. We donned ponchos (we had brought the Dollar Tree ones 2/$1; they sold them on the ship for $3) and braved the streets which were flooded - Duval street looked like a lake. We found Sloppy Joe's and located a table. We had drinks and the appetizer sampler; we really enhjoyed the live music - a guy playing guitar and signging 80's music. When he finsihed his set, we walked arougn some more and then stopped at one of the cafes that was in one of the beautiful homes there; we sat on the porch and drank coffee people watched. One the way back to the shop we shared a Kermit's-frozen-Chocolate- covered key-lime-pie-on-a-stick - heavenly. We LOVED Key West and plan to go there again on a land vacation.
This was the first day we had sunshine. We took a taxi over to Taino Beach for $15 per person. The beach was nice - it had clean restrooms and a snack bar and plenty of beach chairs ($5 per person). They played calypso-style music. Beach volleyball and kayaking were available for free, although we did not use them.
