Great Stirrup Cay
Port Rating:
This is Norwegian's biggest disappointment. They are doing LOTS of construction on this island. Right now it's really ugly with very little shade.
Chairs are stacked so tightly on the beach you can't even get into them! And no umbrellas or trees (thank God it was cloudy the day we were there!). We found concrete bits in the sand at the beach and there are no real walkways to the bathrooms or food pavilion. Think of a great expanse of white concrete/sand mix with a few ugly buildings on it. That's your paradise for the day.
There was a so-so assortment of things to eat at the buffet: fruit, salads, breads, hot dogs, burgers (awful!) and a couple desserts. The only free drinks were tap water, caffeinated coffee and ice tea (I think).
Until lunch was served there was only caffeinated coffee and water to drink, unless you wanted to purchase something at the bar.
Floats, umbrellas, snorkel stuff was available for a pretty dear fee.
Right after lunch, we took the tender back to the ship and had a lovely afternoon by the pool.
While construction is going on (for the next several years I'm thinking) I really think NCL should provide floats, umbrellas and a better assortment of free beverages FOR FREE - as compensation for having to put up with the ugliness and inconvenience right now.
Having said that, I think when they are done it will be quite a showplace - bridges, pathways, multiple beaches, lazy river - save up your pennies, it will probably cost a fortune to play there!
