Key West
Ernest Hemingway House & Tour Rating:
This tour is completely on foot throughout a large area of town, so pls be aware that you should be in pretty fair shape to take this walking tour. The tour guides at the house will give you more info about Mr. Hemingway than you ever wanted to know ;) Key West is super muggy with beautiful flowers. The tour ends at Sloppy Joe's, where the staff, entertainment, food, and beer are a blessing, indeed. We enjoyed the tour and recommend it. Tip: I would make an effort to get to a beach, as well, if I had it to do over again.

Masted Ship Rating:
Sailed aboard the beautiful historical windjammer sailing ship, Alexander von Humboldt. The crew is unique because it is comprised of a German crew and a Bahamian crew! The German crew swaps out every month with a new group from Germany and they are teaching the Bahamian crew the ropes. Very exciting to be able to sail on such a historical sailing ship with beautiful sails and get to see the crew climbing high up to adjust the sails and work together to let the sails out or roll them up. They even let you stand at the wheel and take pics. Very personable attention by all on board and especially from the Bahamians, who walk you to and from the ship. A lovely experience that we will look forward to again. Shouts out to Demethrie, Shannon, Denise, Ahmad, and Mike! Tips for future passengers: The day we were on board it was lightly raining on and off and the winds were practically nonexistent, and it was still a blast; so, if it's sunny and breezy you will have a ton of fun. Beer is available in the galley below and tee shirts too that say Crew on the back and have a pic of the ship on the front. Next to last tip: Plenty of things to buy when you get off the ship and are outside amid the taxis and little refreshment shops. Look for the lineup of tables with tons of souvenirs. Final tip: We went to Zorba's in the Lucayan Marketplace for lunch and got huge plates of fried conch and fried grouper which were absolutely wonderful! The Bahama Mama was excellent, as well. If we could go back, we would try to find the Lucaya Beach too, which I think is across the road from the Lucayan Marketplace. A completely wonderful excursion. Loved it.

Atlantis Aquaventure Rating:
Had a wonderful time at Atlantis, winning a royal flush in the casino, viewing the aquariums, and doing the waterpark. The waterpark is a lot of fun with the inner tubing around the resort and the famous Mayan Temple slide. The slide is so high up and the view down is breathtaking--just keep your eyes closed and it's over in about 4 seconds. Access to the beach is super easy and there are lots of beach lounges with guys to set them up for you. Beautiful sand and light blue water with waves that will suck you in and then throw you back out onto the sand. Lunch provided with the shore excursion was great with the help of one of the staff who seemed to take cruisers under her wing and find a place for us to sit inside out of the rain. Even though it was pouring down rain during part of our time ashore it was still an absolute blast. We found an umbrella in one of the shops. Lovely music outside, lots of lockers to store your stuff (have a credit card), plenty of staff to make sure you're ok and answer questions, lots of people having a relaxing time at a beautiful place. The ride back was so much fun with the great driver we had, who was part comedian and father of four. He told all of us several places to visit before getting back on the ship, so we went to the Straw Market and the Tortuga Rum Cake shop and then had to hurry to get onboard during the last minutes. What fun!
