By no fault of their own, St. Croix has been hit hard by the recession in the closing of the refinery in Frederiksted which employed thousands. We felt bad for the nice people of this island and hope someone buys/reopens the refinery soon.
Celebrity should rethink docking here on a Sunday as most businesses were closed for family/church activities. We rented a car on this island and drove around the island and to Christiansted and back. Not much more to say as little was open and many businesses appeared to be closed for quite awhile.
Nice excursion but not for those prone to motion sickness. The seas were rough on the small catamaran, but lunch was nice. The crew was very helpful and friendly.
entertaining. A good excursion overall.
Scenic Railway Rating:
The train ride was nice if you like trains like we do and having the option to sit in a/c cars helped with the heat/humidity experienced in the islands. the train showed much of the island, but St. Kitts citizens should take more pride in cleaning up the trash on this beautiful island. Tourists do not want to return to dirty places to spend money. The train crew was nice and
What a GREAT tour and the bus was comfortable and cool with a good driver and fabulous guide. The island is beautiful and the stops were educational. Loved Trafalgar Falls and the hike to/from was not too hard, but should be noted that those with mobility issues should avoid this tour.
Having vacationed on St. Thomas and St. John previously all we wanted to do was get to Trunk Bay with as little effort as possible. Take our advice and although the ship's tour is a nice option, grab a cab from the pier to Red Hook Ferry landing and take the 20 minute smooth ferry ride to St. John and then cab to Trunk Bay and then return to downtown St. John for shopping/eating. OR take the ship tour from the dock and ride the stomach churning 45 minute boat ride to St. John. Your choice.
