Roatan is a beautiful island with warm blue waters and some nice people. It is very poor but we were told is much better than the Honduran mainland. We felt safe the entire trip and hired a private driver thru Victor Bodden tours. It was worth the added expense and we enjoyed the zip line tour and the beach break. Unfortunately, our credit card number was used after we left the island. It really pays to give the bank your travel itinerary before you leave as fraud dept.caught it and let us know they had taken care of the problem.
This was one place we wished we could have stayed at longer!
A great but hot adventure! The bus ride took an hour and we realized how unpopulated this part of Mexico is (after Hurrican Dean destroyed much of it). The ruins were as authentic of an experience you can have without being Indiana Jones. Even the snake warnings were real! We didn't see any but I kept my eyes open!
