We hired a cab to take us on an island tour. We saw the west shore area on the way to the Barbados Wildlife Park. We thoroughly enjoyed the park! If you are looking for the green monkey, it is best to go after 3:00pm when they come back to the park. They are free to come and go, so they usually leave the park for other areas during the day and come back later. We also saw mara, tortoises, iguanas and deer. A nice diversion from the norm! We then travelled to the east side of the island to Bathsheba. Beautiful area with a nice breeze. On the way back to the port, we stopped at a few churches. Nice 4 hour tour. Then a bit of shopping by the pier.
Hired a private tour with Cosol. Concerned about the winding roads and motion sickness, so figured we should play it safe and not involve anybody else! I took 2 Bonine and had no problems at all. What a great tour! We had Swabie as our guide and he was very informative. Went to the walk-in volcano, Pitons, several scenic overviews, banana plantation, and tried some local cuisine. A full day, but worth every minute. We did the entire trip by land rather than taking a boat back to the port. Next time might try the boat just for something different. Swabie was great about taking our photos and answering all of our questions. Would use them again in a heartbeat!
We had booked a tour with Gordon, but opted to go with another tour. (Long story) We went to Nelson's Dockyard, Shirley Heights, and the Blockhouse. Had planned to do the Stingray City swim, but DH came down with a migraine, so we went back to the ship instead. Had a nice drive around the island, but not terribly impressed. Nice to see once, but will not be in a hurry to go back to this island.
Had been here before, but not to Marigot. We did not like the itinerary for the island tours, so we took a cab to Marigot and walked around. Discovered Fort Louis and had a nice trek to the top. Beautiful view from up there! Nice breeze on a hot sunny day. Decided to have a mango smoothie before heading over to Maho to watch the planes come in. Got to Maho at 1:00pm. Ordered a pizza at the Sunset Bar (Great pizza at a great price!) Watched the people and the planes until 2:30, then back to the port. Went to the Chocolate Box for a few goodies. (The fudge is not like what we get at home. I would pass on that the next time.) The chocolates are pricey but good! Walked back to the port and got a coconut drink (nummy!!) before boarding the ship.
Been here before. Just walked around town for a bit of shopping. Then back to the ship for a relaxing afternoon as the rest of the cruise had been quite busy.
