We always fly in to Miami airport the day before the cruise leaves, stay at Embassy Suites at the airport and walk over to Jai Alai/the casino located about 200 yards away. Shuttle to port is $10 per person. Free: shuttle from airport, extensive breakfast and drinks from 4 -7PM. Shuttle was slow in picking us up and we received a 30% off all food and goods purchased @ Embassy. So we received about $30 off our dinner bill.
Very nice pool and wonderful staff. Restaurant is very average, breakfast buffet far better and more extensive than most.
Been there some 30 days over the course of our lives and know the island backwards and forwards. Great beaches and hotels all over the island. The Marriott at Frenchman's Reef is just 5 minutes from the dock and has a very nice beach, tennis and all amenities. Shopping is endless.
Other semi-secluded over hyped beaches such as Meagan's Bay, are beautiful and worthwhile if you have the time. Go on your own via taxi, don't take any shore excursions.
Island has everything. We have been there several times and due to mobility issues on this trip, we stayed "in port" where there are very decent beaches, two casinos and endless shopping.
Orient Point has surf and some portions are nude/topless. Stay on the Dutch side and nothing will disappoint. Food is however, pricey. It is our single favorite island in the Caribbean as it has everything.
