We took this tour to get the fairy ride over to St. John, then we ditched the tour and went to Trunk Bay. What a beautiful beach! What I can say is that the ferry captain knew what was up, and actually had a taxi waiting for people who were ditching to go to the beach. How perfect is that??
They get you on a bus and you do a little tour of the island before you get to the zip area. This is ok, you see some of the island and hear some history. However, don't ask the guide questions, he doesn't know anything except what he is reciting. When we got to the zip area, they were running very late, and we wasted half an hour "touring" the plantation area which consisted of looking at trees and a few ruins of houses. The zip line itself is fun, but it is really only 1/2 an hour out of 3 hours. We ended up getting back to the port late and didn't have time to shop because the ship was leaving. It might be good for first time zipliners...otherwise don't bother.
This is a perfect trip. If you are lucky enough to be able to get on this catamaran/snorkel trip, do it! The crew is professional and friendly. They cook you lunch, they snorkel with you and make sure you have the best time ever. The captain (Dan) can and will answer any questions you have about the island or sailing. Can't say one single bad thing about this excursion!
With Levi as our guide, we snorkeled at Champagne Reef, braved Titou Gorge...it's cold! And saw Trafalgar Falls and we sat in the hot springs. He is a perfect guide and he can answer any questions you ask about the island. The island itself was beautiful and we stopped at a roadside overlook where we saw over the moutaintops to the port. There was also a stand to buy baskets and vanilla. HIGHLY recommend.
Took a cab to Le Gallion beach. Very nice "locals" beach that wasn't crowded. Has restrooms and a restaurant with good food. Then did shopping back on the Dutch side. Unfortunately, we got loads of rain which shortened our day, but we still ranked it as one of our favorite ports.
