A good tour with a great guide (Dora); would have skipped La Popa hill and opted to enter the fort instead. Enjoyed the old walled city but the "modern city" isn't anything special except an opportunity to herd you into an emerald store. If you're adventurous and want to do it on your own, hire a taxi to the fort, then one to the old town, then head back to the ship!
There didn't seem to be much to Bonaire if you're afraid of the water! The shopping is minimal and the port town fairly small. We did snorkeling with Woodwind and really enjoyed a peaceful afternoon drinking strong drinks and spotting fish and turtles.
The port area is very colorful and pretty. We enjoyed a stroll around the area even though we don't shop much. We rented our own car and drove the entire northern loop of the island to see the national seashore and other various points along the way.
Enjoyed about six hours of people watching and relaxing at Palm Beach. Took the public bus there and back--it's easy and convenient, but our bus back (around 3:30pm) was packed, and others waiting closer to the port (Eagle Beach) got passed by.
