Pleasant Sailing: Carnival Valor Cruise Review by Dave from Barrie

We ate in the dining room every night and morning and found the food to be very good with good portion sizes and lots of variety. The deserts were exceptional. The waiters were very friendly and went out of their way to serve us .The Lido deck also offers good variety however the best time for lunch is the 1.30-2.30 time frame as noon is very busy.
Entertainment was excellent most nights with a good variety however the sail away show and the show on the last night are dated and need to be changed. Also the popcorn served on the lido deck during movie nights is tasteless(No butter) and needs to be improved. As usual the Lido deck chair hogs were More out in full force and Carnival needs to do a better job of policing this.A lot of people go out at 7am drop a beach towel on a chair and leave for several hours believing the chairs are reserved by this method thus depriving other passengers of these chairs.
As far as ports go Grand Turk has very little and is a waste of time.La Romano DR has some great scenery however the downtown merchants will drive you crazy and are very pushy.Curacao and Aruba are the star islands on this cruise and have lots to see and do.
Embarkation and Debarkation was excellent as Carnival has this down to a fine science providing you listen for your numbers to be called.
All told this was an excellent cruise and offered very good value for the money.I would like to say thank you to Judy(Montana) for getting all the Cruise Critic members together for the sail away..She and her husband did an excellent job .Some things can be improved upon as always however My wife and I will be back on Carnival in the not to distant future.
