We had such a good cruise on the Sun in Feb on 2011, we signed up for another cruise for this year. Again, it was the best, being able to do what you want when you want. Embarkation was quick and easy. Off loaded the luggage, parked, checked in and was having lunch within 35 minutes. Parking has gone up from $105 to $120 and we were aware as $105 was still quoted in the online research. This is too much for outdoor parking for 7 days. They are now collecting for 8 days each week at $15 a day!
We had a balcony cabin on Norway deck mid ship on the other side of the ship this time. Love the coffee pot; all lines should do this. NCL needs to upgrade those old TVs, but lots of good first run movies. Bed was comfortable and we were able to adjust the temperature in the cabin as needed. Bathroom was adequate and the shower OK if you are not over 190 lbs. We wiped all surfaces with antibacterial wipes to be on the safe side.
Every meal was good, and the two specialty restaurants we visited - Moderno and East Meets West were so good but too much food. We had to quit with the meats halfway through at the Moderno, just could not hold anymore. Had lobster and fillet that would melt in your mouth at East Meets West but the dinner was almost ruined by a screaming (and I do mean screaming) 2 year old. Should have asked the parents to remove the child. Many were very upset.
Cozumel has been done before but this time took the two man speed boat at Hideaway Beach through NCL. It was a blast. Well worth the $99. Caught air many times over the ocean following about 6 other boats. Good lunch and hammocks and a pool also available. Even walked through the jungle and saw a gator the guide was feeding. Cool!
Grand Cayman was OK for the village of HELL and the turtle farm. We had a really overprices lunch at Margaritaville but it was a swinging place and lots of fun. Other than that, it is a port to be missed in the future unless you are going to dive or snorkel.
Jamaica was great, Dunns Falls was a blast but we did not climb. If you do climb, bring your own water shoes and towels. Would have liked more time to shop there but will visit that port again.
Great Stirrup Cay was wonderful if you like sand in everything. We rented a clamshell and that was really nice as there is little shade. Lunch was terrific, lots of selections and hot and tasty. Water was a little cold but we went in 3 times and managed to have a blast. WEAR WATER SHOES!!!
Entertainment was OK. We missed the singer and the comedian should have been much better if he had been doing this for 35 years. We did a couple of Trivia, lots of hot tub, no bingo and lost some in the Casino. Crew were all
polite and helpful and we have again purchased the future cruise. Will look forward to leaving from Tampa in a year or two. Great cruise, ship, and crew.
