This was our second cruise and second time on AOS, and it lived up to our memories and expectations. The only downside was prior to the cruise, we had paid in advance over a year ago for a room at the Hotal Milano in OSJ and when we went to check in our room was not available and the room they moved us to did not have working air conditioning. Needless to say, we will not use that hotel again.
Embarkation was smooth, the lines not as long as last year, even though we arrived at the port at the same time. Wish they had the ceiling fans turned on in the waiting area, but apart from that, it was smooth and fairly fast considering how many people have to be processed through the system. We were on the ship in time to have lunch at the Windjammer and our rooms were ready, with luggage waiting outside, by 2 p.m.
Again, I have to say how great the RCI staff were - Martin, our room steward, Romualdo and Ivan, our waiter and assistant waiter, great service at all times, and always a smile, thanks so much!
We had a FANTASTIC group from the Meet and Mingle boards - the Solarium Lovers - and a very enjoyable cabin crawl and poker game was organized for the official Meet and Mingle day. We enjoyed meeting and spending time with all of you.
We do not go to the shows, except for the wonderful ice show, so cannot comment on the entertainment, but we always enjoy the pool deck and Royal Promenade and the walking/jogging track. The mini golf area could use some repair, but we enjoyed playing there nonetheless. I also enjoyed the steam room and sauna in the fitness centre. Didn't attend any Bingo games, but one of our group won a cruise at Bingo, so next time we might!
We did not use any of the specialty restaurants but enjoyed the dining room food, especially lobster night, and there is always a variety for breakfast and lunch in the Windjammer. The promenade cafe, open 24 hours, is a great option for early risers to get good coffee and breakfast items. We always intended to try the pizza there, as it looked really good, but there is only so much food you can eat in a day!
We never had problems finding a lounger on the decks, even on sea days.
The last day arrived all too soon, but the disembarkation process went quite smoothly for us, as we had a late flight and were probably one of the last groups to leave the ship. Now it is time to plan our next RCI cruise!
