Most relaxing vacation ever

Sail Date: February 2012
Destination: Southern Caribbean
Embarkation: Fort Lauderdale (Port Everglades)

This was our 7th cruise and the 5th on Princess. We booked this cruise because I love Aruba, but we could only be gone 7 days and didn't want the cost of flying to San Juan.

This particular itinerary was just perfect for a vacation that included a lot of rest, which is what we were looking for. It only had 3 ports and that is including Princess Cays. We only had to get up early on two days. The one day was for Aruba because we had an early excursion and the day of disembarking. The time for the port of Curacao was late so we were able to sleep in that day also.

The ship was really rocking, but instead of getting seasick, I found it perfect for sleeping. We had an inside cabin and the dark room and the rocking made us sleep wonderfully.

The service this cruise was the best we've ever had. We've sometimes noticed that when you don't order drinks, waiters have a way of ignoring you. This was not true on this cruise. I bought the enhanced soda card and More found the shakes and mock-tails delicious.

We played a lot of bingo and loved the comedians. We did not see a production show this time, but instead found our evenings either at MUTS or in the hot tub relaxing. Princess has the best pools and hot tubs. Pools are fresh water and most pools have a 7' end as well as a shallow end.

This is the first time we've seen lines for the anytime dining, but the lines moved quickly. Food was good, but we've noticed they no longer offer a few of the more exotic foods like in the past.

Disembarking was simple and quick. Less

Cabin review: Crown Princess Interior Double Aloha A-312

We had a handicap accessible room due to my husband's disability. The room was very spacious, especially the shower. The shower has a bench that folds out of the way for anyone able-bodied. The storage in the bathroom is compromised slightly. Plenty of closet and drawer space available. The entrance area is open for easy entrance for wheelchairs. There was a service hallway right next door that sometimes got loud, but we sleep with a noise maker, so it did not affect us. Others might find this annoying.

Masted Sailing Ship

We booked this independently. They have two pirate ships: one thru the cruise ship and one not. The one NOT thru the cruise ship offers all you can drink rum punch and a BBQ lunch for only a few dollars more. You do however, have to get to the ship location on your own. This was very simple thru the public bus system which is located across the street from the cruise ship.

A very charming town. Very clean and people were very friendly. We walked around shopping. We also enjoyed the swinging pedestrian bridge that moves to allow ships in the harbor. The shops and town are very colorful.

This is just a nice beach day. The water was a little cold, but the sun was shining and we were on the beach for several hours before returning to the ship.
