Celebrity Summit Cruise Review by johnpma: Great room, great time, mediocre dining room experience

Great room, great time, mediocre dining room experience
Destination: Southern Caribbean
Embarkation: San Juan
This was our first experience on Celebrity Cruises and overall it was good.
Embarkation in San Juan is fast and easy. Once we boarded, my wife had pre-booked a spa visit for 5pm the day of embarkation. However, this had to be moved due to the muster drill that was scheduled for all passengers. This caused a minor hiccup for our planned activities for embarkation day.
We stayed in the Royal Suite. Our butler, Singh, met us when we arrived at the cabin and gave us a brief tour of our room and its amenities. He was very helpful and responsive throughout the cruise and was always only a phone call away to address any issues we had.
Our room steward was Ruel. He was also great and called us by our name from the first time we met him until the last morning we disembarked.
We ate at two of the specialty restaurants during our cruise. The Normandie was our first specialty restaurant. The service was top notch and the food was near perfection. The More sommelier assisted throughout the dinner to help pair wines throughout the dinner. The additional charge of $40 per person was well worth it. Our second specialty restaurant experience was QSine. Qsine is a unique restaurant experience unlike any other I have had before. Upon being seated, each person is handed an iPad as your menu. You select a variety of cuisines from around the world. After selecting all your dishes, the waiter helps you plan your meal by suggesting which dishes to have first and what portion size you should have for each dish. Every dish we received was presented in a unique and almost artistic display. The taste was also excellent. Pace yourself here. You get lots of food and just take your time.
As good as our specialty restaurant experience was, our traditional dining room experience was the opposite. The service seemed to mediocre at best and the quality, taste, and presentation of food was well below our expectations (we have had much better traditional dining room experience on HAL and RCCL).
My wife enjoyed the spa treatments throughout the cruise.
On the entertainment side, theonly show we attended was the comedian, Fred Klett. He was very funny and also very clean (no vulgar language). I went to the casino several nights and had a great time. Dealers were helpful and friendly.
Debarkation was easy and hassle free again. Overall, we had a great time. Our only complaint was the traditional dining room experience and food. Less
