Loved the newly-reinstated ship tour. Superior pre-boarding check-in logistics -- minimal lines;
Crew members were exceptionally friendly (first cruise we've seen the Maitre D',other than the last formal dinner night; Desi came by all tables in our section every night. What a shining star she is! Dining waitstaff was exceptional -- Romeo, Lukman, Kadek, Alejandro, Marion, Desi); great personalities and wonderful service!
Room stewards were outstanding -- great service, always smiling like old friends (Gabriel, Leonardus and Myshell); Ship was spotless. Enjoyed this cruise more than on Carnival Magic last December.
We were very disappointed in the lack of information and lack of concern from the excursion desk staff regarding the Puerto Vallarta robbery on the prior cruise. When asked for more information so we could make an informed decision about P.V. excursions, the excursion rep at the desk disdainfully remarked "well, nobody got hurt" and offered no other information. Clearly he was following instructions from Carnival's management team -- VERY DISAPPOINTING. If we hadn't found someone on board who knew one of the people who were held up, and that the excursion went to a remote location,we likely would have stayed on the ship in P.V. I'm so glad we cancelled our P.V. zipline tour a few days before we boarded the ship. The newly-added safety and liability disclaimer to Carnival's excursion brochure, and the new 25% penalty for cancelled excursions, was further evidence of Carnival's lack of concern for passenger safety during port excursions. Quality of onboard photographs was worst of any cruise we've been on. Photo with captain, my wife and I on bridge during ship tour was poor-- my wife's eyes were closed. This was a small tour group and the photographer should have previewed the photo and immediately re-shot it.
Assistant cruise director (Brian from Chicago) made several rude comments about passengers over the microphone during the week -- apparently unaware that the individuals were offended. At times he came off as goofy. He needs to polish his public persona.
