Sail Date: Feb 2012

We sailed out of Port Canaveral on Feb 26, 2012 on FOS. The embarkation was easy, we did have to stand in line however, it moved pretty fast, once through the initial line through security we were on the ship. Going to our staterooms we passed one of the attendants in the hall and he smiled and said welcome Home for the next 7 nights, that was the general attitude out of 99% of the staff and made for a great sailing, despite starting off with lower than average temps and as Graham the Cruise director said "300mph winds" (not really but a 50mph head wind is pretty stiff when combined with a mega ship sailing through) on the decks, which meant we had many rocks and dips the first couple of nights, I loved it, I wanted to feel some movement, if not I would stay on land trips!

The Freedom of the Seas ship was great, large, well run and Beautiful! I really do not care what the small "luxury" ship people say about the mega ships, we loved FOS.

The food in the windjammer is standard cruise ship fair. Freedom of the Seas has many different options in the windjammer but it is quantity over quality to some extent, they are mass producing food and you have to expect it is not over the top great food but it is good. The dinning room food is really good, our waitress Huny in Galileos 5th floor Main Dining (my time dinning) and her helper Jake were both exceptional. Anything and everything we requested was granted with smiles on their faces despite the fact that they work 7 days a week for 6 months at a time. We loved them and looked forward to seeing them every evening. The 24 hour pizza place in the Grand Promenade was great, pizza (several choices)Paninis, salads and desserts just 2 decks down from us was very tempting all the TIME! I do not like the fact that the really good treats and foods are not part of your cruise fare, we do not support those places just because, we can get Starbucks, cupcakes and Ben and Jerrys at home anyway! One thing I would like to say to cruisers, if you do not want to wear nice clothes to the dinning room eat at the windjammer.

Cabin Review

Our cabin was nice size and clean. There could be more storage space but it was adequate.

We had a location near the elevators but never heard them, the ship is well designed, there were 4 in our party and we all said we would book the same ship and cabins again. It was quiet and we rarely heard anything other than ship noises.

The beds are great also, I have am still recovering from spinal surgery (4 months before sailing) and having a nice bed is a major deal while traveling for me. I slept like a baby and I miss having the ship gently rock me to sleep every night!

The bathroom was spotless, standard small bath on a cruise ship.
