I admit, I was nervous when I first found out we were going on another old ship, since my mother had booked this cruise out of the blue. I was reading about the ship and it changed its name twice, its really old, and people kept saying negative stuff about it, but there was some positive feedback. 2/3 months before cruise: I started to plan my list. Everything I needed for this vacation was on the list so I wouldn't forget anything at home. 1 month before cruise: I started to get all my stuff together, like start to maybe plan some outfits. Bought some new swimsuits/dresses. That kind of stuff! Oh yeah, also checked my suitcase for any rips/tares, because that would be bad! Ten days before cruise: Start to wash all my clothes, check over my list to make sure I'm not missing anything. Go on youtube and look at videos of my cruise ship. 3 days before my cruise: I was leaving in 2 days for my trip, we drive down to Florida a day before, then board the ship early. I More started to pack my suitcase, just kind of threw a bunch of clothes I could mix and match. I had a little extra room which I was proud of myself for that, until my mom filled that space with some of her hair products. 2 days before my cruise: Double Check everything I packed in my suitcase, literlly take it all out and go through the list again. I get together all my stuff I'll need for the ride down. Which is a lot since its around 14 hour car ride or more. 1 day before my cruise: We left at 3 am. It was dark for a couple hours, but we got to watch the sunrise which I have to admit, was pretty awesome! I then went to sleep and was woken up later for breakfast at McDonalds. Nothing fancy. So after that back to the car, back to sleeping! I slept till lunch (Chikfila), gotta switch it up! We stopped for the rest area a couple times. We reached our hotel in record time, in Fort Lauderdale, we reached our hotel at 3:15! Our hotel (Comfort Suites) had the worst service ever, I don't recommend it! We had to wait till around 4:30 to get our room. We were forced to wait with 30 other guests in a small, cramped lobby. The room itself was fine though, it was pretty big for a hotel. It had a bathroom, closet seperating the bathroom and the bedroom. And then a big mirror on one wall when you first walk in with a refrigerator underneath the counter below it. Also, it had a tv and two couches. We met up with my aunt and uncle to have dinner, the reason we stayed a little farther away from Port Miami. But it was worth it! DAY OF CRUISE!: So excited, the day I was waiting for! We got at the port around 10ish, and they let us in to start to check in. Everyone was really nice in there, passengers and staff! We got through the lines/security fairly fast! Good job Norwegian! Actually getting on the ship was the problem. We couldn't just get on the ship, we had to wait in a airport type place in groups until they called your group number. So we played cards for like seemed like forever until we got to board. Finally when we walked on the ship, all that anger disappeared, the ship was amazing! The food wasn't that bad, which was shocking because I'm a really picky eater. We carried bathing suits in our carry on bags, so we headed to the bathrooms and changed. But, I accidently left my phone in there! WHOOPS! Luckily, a nice lady had turned it over the the front desk and we got it back, just signed a form and bam. I got my phone back! The pool deck was my favorite part of this cruise, being on the deck above the pool was the best for tanning, on the left side. I think I spent most of my day there just sleeping and soaking in the sun! Everything was very clean and orderly. Our stateroom was very good, which we got two conjoining rooms. We never opened that door in the middle once! My sister ended up seeing this guy she went to school with so we hung out with him and his family the rest of the time! DAY TWO: It was just another place. I don't think we got off the boat to go unto the island, we've been to Freeport billions of times. DAY THREE: Nassau <3 One of my favorite places to go! We were going to go to the Atlantis again, which is what we normally do, but my mom booked an excursion at the Blue Lagoon. We got to play with dolphins! It was so much fun and so many memories were made there! I wish I could go back there some day! DAY FOUR: We were at the private island. LOVED IT. Hung out with my sisters friend and his family the whole time. Our parents talked too! Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves! The other family had a bunch of snorkel gear, so we borrowed extra ones and we all went snorkeling by the rock out there. It was so cool! We also rented one of those tubes where you can lay on, it was a lot of fun flipping people on it! They keep this island SO clean, the only issue was the tender, the waves were really high. So the boat was rocking a lot, I thought we were going to tip. Of course, one of the boys in my sisters friends family sat on the edge of the top deck. His back to the water. When we went down on one of the waves, he stuck his hand out and TOUCHED the water. Thats how bad it was! I recommend not leaving on the last tender off the island, because if you get sea sick or scared fast, you might have a heart attack. DAY FIVE: Left the cruise ship early, said goodbye to our new cruise friends and headed our seperate ways. So sad! One issue we had was we carried our luggage off the ship ourselves because it saves time. So when we were going down the to the first floor, an attendment, staff person made my sister go ALONE down on the escalator and the rest of us on the elevator. My dad was so mad. He was yelling at the person since we liked being all together the whole time. So we hate leaving the ship now with Norwegian. They were HORRIBLE staff when getting off the ship. You paid all the expenses you could, they don't care about your happiness anymore. SO BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD experience getting off the ship. After all that we drove home back to North Carolina. EXTRA STUFF: If your picky at eating and you don't like anything on the menu in the dining room, you can ALWAYS get mac and cheese. I think I got that two days straight. It was actually like really good. Bring lanyards so you can't loose your key, its easy to use when its around your neck! I tend to loose things fast too! Don't use your phones at sea, it costs to much. Just think of it as a getaway from the real world. Bring sweatshirts for at night, it gets cold. If you have kids like around teenage years, get conjoining rooms or two rooms. They say you can't do that, but how are they gonna know your parents are in one room, and kids in the other. They can't really check. Bring a poolbag and spray on sunscreen. The Norwegian Sky was a really fun cruise, but not for any of the clubs for kids, because we couldn't get into them because my sisters friend couzin was too young to get it, 12. Which was so stupid! They wouldn't let him in because he was less then a year to young. So the staff could use some adjusting. We hate the clubs so we never go to them. I'm a three years apart with my sister and we like to hang out TOGETHER on a cruise, not make totally new friends. We'd rather make friends TOGETHER. It mad us so mad because this always happens and we end up fighting with the people there. Endless to say, we end up never going to the teen clubs because the staff there are bone heads who need to get a freaking life. They suck. They need some college kids to run those places! It would be SO much fun if they did that! Not some old people who don't let siblings in when they are old enough and mature enough to get it. Less
