Got off the Carnival Conquest Feb 19th and right onto the Spirit.Still cool and breezy in New Orleans.Wife just had to get back off and go into town for more beads.
EMBARKATION: smooth and quick.Another cold trip down the Mississippi.
SHIP: Norwegian's oldest and I think smallest ship.Unlike the Pearl or Dawn in decor.Pool was very chilly.Hard to navigate as only 2 decks went bow to stern.Getting rundown though clean.
CABIN: nice large shower but smallest cabin we have had yet.Nice flat screen t.v.,nice decor. The requested eggcrate was placed by our excellent cabin steward Joseph.
FOOD: nice selection in main dining rooms.Cont to love the Blue Lagoon.Buffet had good selections but typical.
wife went to Sushi bar once and said was good but Sushi is free on Carnival.Still unhappy w/ lg number of "upscale" for fee restaurants on board.Drink prices are better than Carnival's but not by much so cont to choose to drink off ship.
ENTERTAINMENT: comic was very good.Elements show was incredible.Deal or no deal was fun.
PORTS: Costa Maya port area is very nice w/ many shops etc.We booked a beach break off ship and had a good time.Belize we joined another couple for cave tubing w/ Cave-tubing.com and had a great time for 1/2 the cost of ship tour.
Roatan would have been nice, see port review.Cozumel with a rental car was such a better value and experience than prior cruise. We drove around the island twice and were able to visit many beach area's, bar's, and tour the main city for $64.Coconut's was a great bar to visit and we wish we had more time there.Too windy for safe snorkeling and we had plenty of fun driving around.
RETURN: 15 ft seas and 55 knot (60 mph) winds on sea day back to N.O. so spent the last day of cruise indoors.
DISEMBARKATION: smooth walk off and to our hotel for 2 extra days in N.O.
