My spouse and I sailed from Tampa on Feb 19th. Much was riding on this cruise. It was my spouse's first cruise with NCL and first cruise of over 5 days. I was hoping the cruise would knock his socks off enough to OK future planning of an NCL sailing from Venice. I have cruised with NCL before and thought he would like freestyle and to cinch the deal I booked an aft suite. I am a crafty girl!

I had read about embarkation/disembarkation woes in Tampa here on the boards. For embarkation it looked good - very smooth until we moved from the Latitudes line to the suite area. A little chaotic, we were told 3 different things by three different people and no one seemed to be keeping track of who was to be checked in next. Jumping the line or even seeming to be jumping the line isn't a good way to start things out. A numbering system or a check in at the "door" might be helpful? At any rate we got some one's attention and were checked through with warmth and professionalism. This is the only time we saw the Concierge at rest for the entirety of the cruise - if we saw her after this she was bustling about or even flat out running. We did not use her services but she seemed to be a very busy lady. We were escorted on board by our butler - Gary was sweet. We weren't really sure what to do with a butler, but it was a lovely perk. He did a fullset up for us one morning (linens, silver etc) for breakfast and brought us afternoon treats. We felt very special. We also appreciated him reminding us of the Chocolate Buffet - something I have always arrived too late for on previously cruises! Go early folks, to see chocolate creations as far as the eye can see.

Our suite was spacious with a lovely deep balcony with space for two loungers! The wind was kept off us by dividers and we spent time on the balcony every day without fail. My husband is not big on crowds and the noise of the lido, so this was perfect for us. The bed was just right and we slept excellently - even during heavy seas on the first and last evenings.
