We selected this cruise since it was leaving New Orleans a few days before Mardi Gras and we had never been to New Orleans. We stayed on Magazine St at the Country Inn & Suites. Great location that was walking distance to parades, French Quarter, Bourbon St. and close to the port. Nice hotel. We arrived at port @ 11:30am. Check in was easy but then had to wait @ 20 min to get on the ship. It was pouring rain after we arrived and 2 suitcases got wet. One got soaked but luckily it was our shoes and I had them in zip lock bags anyway. The other suitcase had a few wet things in it but they dried in the room. Our 3rd suitcase was dry.
Room: We had a balcony room - 6322. Very clean and comfortable. Bed was a little firm but most nights we slept very well. Typical bathroom with glass rounded doors and plenty of storage for what we had. Stateroom attendant took good care of us. Dale was his name. Rather serious, but spoiled us.
Dining Room: Lots to choose from, though I am a beef or chicken person. Quality was OK, but you do have to keep in mind the number of people that are getting served every day. We certainly did not go hungry. We did eat at Johnny Rockets 1 night. Had a great time there.
We were in 6322. It is the 1st floor of balcony rooms but in a section that sticks out a bit so we didn't see the lifeboats under us. Right off the elevators and stairwell. Noise wasn't a problem, but we were out late every night anyway. Dale, our attendant took very good care of us. Beds are a bit firm, but we slept good anyway. Bathroom typical size with the glass rounded doors in the shower. Plenty of storage in the room. Love seat and small table in room. TV is old style, but we didn't care about that. Loved that I could keep tabs on my Sea Pass account from the TV. We loved the location of our room. Promenade on 5th floor so it was convenient to many things.
