This will be a short review with more to come later. Our family was a little nervous to go on the Crown even though it had been "stomach bug free" for a week. We are NOT germ-phobic but we even brought sterilizing wipes for the room ourselves. Honestly I think we could have eaten off the floor it was so clean. The rooms were definitely bleached and spotless when we arrived - only to have our bags come like 10 minutes later too!!
The buffet for the first several days was NOT self serve - all staff were serving and this was a relief to be honest. There were no salt and pepper shakers on tables, all silverware was wrapped and all staff had gloves on who were serving in the ice cream, pizza, drink and buffet areas. There was an abundance of purel everywhere on the ship and people monitoring and basically requiring use of it prior to entering an eating facility.
The other thing we noticed was all the general bathrooms had the doors propped open so you didn't have to use your hands, another effort to cut down on germ spreading. The cruise started Saturday and by Wednesday there were Salt and Pepper shakers back on finer dining tables and the buffet was self serve again... which was fine with everyone.
I can not say enough about Princess cruises. They addressed the issue head on and attacked it was honesty and integrity. We have been on 5 cruises and chose the repeat Princess for a second time for a reason and we have no regrets. More to come later but wanted anyone who was worried about the cleanliness issue not to worry. Enjoy!!!
