Cheap trip in search of some sun!!
Feeling fed up with grey skies we booked a last minute cruise on Jade to go and look for some sun in the Canary Isles. The cruise was fine for the money we paid for it. We have sailed with NCL over 10 times now and must admit things are not as good as they were when we first started. The lack of chairs and tables in the buffet has become an increasing problem, but you can always go to the MDR for breakfast and lunch, if you have the time.
Our balcony cabin on Deck 9 was clean, tidy and well serviced, but some of the extras have disappeared - no nice toiletries, just a dispenser. Nice to have a coffee machine in the room though.
We enjoyed two meals in Le Bistro - really good - and one in the Italian Papa's Kitchen - enjoyed by both of us, but ordered too much as usual! The freestyle dining meant we could be sociable or otherwise - when we shared a table we always seemed to enjoy the company of the other diners - NCL try to make sure you share with people who More speak the same language which is always a good idea
We had some onboard credit to spend so went on some of the tours - I find them quite expensive and we normally find our own way about. Not really keen on being "herded around".
Enjoyed the shows - especially the "Elements" show.
Embarkation and disembarkation both went quite smoothly and because we had a late flight home from Barcelona, we booked the tour to Monserrat - incredible scenery and worth every penny, and not to long to wait after we were dropped off at the airport. We did find on getting off the ship that there is a company at the port who will take your luggage to the airport for you leaving you free to enjoy a day in Barcelona.
All in all, a good cruise with no real complaints. Less
