We cruised on the newest Carnival ship the Valor. We did the western caribbean, Belize, Roatan, unable to dock at Cayman and Cozumel. The ship is amazing, the only complaints are people saving chairs, we were truly up and ready to lay out by 9am and all the chairs were gone with towels and shoes on them not to be occupied until after noon. Carnival must do something about this. Also the self assist disembarking was a nightmare, we had to drag our luggage down 5 flights of stairs, because the elevators were full, after we were told there was no waiting, and continued to wait at least another 45 min.
The ports of call, don't go into Belize unless you have a tour, we did not, the gated shopping area is ok but not worth the tender in. Roatan has to be the most beautiful place I have ever been ( this was our 5th cruise and we have been east & west )do the Tabayana beach break, breathtaking. Cozumel was fun, we did the Nachi Cocom beach break, a great deal $30 p/p all inclusive, best Mexican food I have ever had. We pasted Carnival's beach break Playa Mia, they were like sardine's Nachi is relaxed spread out, excellent service. Carnival does not enforce the no under 25 unlessed married, but the spring breakers were well behaved. The security was awesome, no worries about our 16 & friend being out and about on their own.
Worries with the kids being out about on their own. The food was good, Carnival uses basically the same menu for each cruise but has a large selection. We have already booked with Carnival for next spring, for the price you get your money's worth, hopefully they will work out the few negative things we encountered.
