We arrived on 2/11/12 and embarkment was a breeze. We made our way to the brunch to meet other couples that we were cruising with and enjoyed a few cups of coffee while waiting for our cabin to become available. Cabin became available so we went to check it out. Thecabin was nice and roomy, but there was a broken draw under the sink. Dinner at Taste was lacking both good service and tasty food. I ordered a steak and it was just like shoe leather!!
Played at the casino on the first night and machines were not very giving. Second day we decided to have breakfast at the buffet. good selection but hey, its breakfast, how can you screw up breakfast, Right??
We ate at Manhattan for dinner and both the food and service was just OK, nothing special.

Third day is when it started to go down hill!! Went to Manhattan for breakfast and the service was terrible. The wait staff seemed like they have never waited on a table ever before!! There was 4 couples at our table and we couldn't get any food that was remotely warm, never mind hot! The coffee was cold and full of grounds, the eggs were cold and the toast was non existant!!! The server looked at us with that deer in the headlights look when we asked for hot food and hot toast. there was a total of 8 people at our table and only 5 pieces of butter. We asked for more butter and never got any.
We ate what we could salvage and left to find something to do.
That night, we again had dinner at Manhattan, the food and service was ok this time. They had a nice Motown show while we dined and it was a very good show!!
Day 4 was again breakfast at Manhattan, we figured that we just got that "Bad server" the day before, so we all decided to give it another shot.
Apparently, the server from the day before was their best!!!! We all ordered our breakfasts, nothing out of the ordinary, but most were different from each other! I don't know how it is possible, but all of the meals were mixed up. Nobody got anything remotely like what they ordered!! And to make matters worse, it was all cold!!!
We had him take ALL of them back and told him again what we wanted, he checked his list and it was correct as we ordered it the first time. So now we are into this breakfast for an hour and still no food!!!
Here comes the server with our toast (still no food) and we tell him that we don't want the toast now, bring it out with our food.
He places the toast on the counter behind us and refills our drink glasses.
Forty minutes later, one meal comes to the table and it is wrong again! We are very upset at this time and ask him where our food is, it only been 1 hour and 40 minutes since we ordered. He tells us it will be right out. 10 minutes later he brings out our food and it is again ALL wrong!!!! At this point we decided to try to mix and match our plates so that we can at least move on! The server than really blows our mind by taking that cold toast off of the counter that has been sitting there for around a half hour and starts to serve it to us! We tried to tell him that we wanted hot toast and we got the deer in the headlights look again!
So after 1 hour and 50 minutes, we decided to go to the buffet to have breakfast and we all left!!
THE SERVERS ON THE EPIC ARE THE WORST POSSIBLE THAT THERE IS!!!!!!!!
So now its time to go see the Cirque show that we booked in advance! All 4 of us couples booked this show with NCL in advance and we were all told (by the booking agent) that we didn't need to book the premium seating, as the general seating is a better view of the show. We were all assured that we would have balcony seating for the additional charge of $25. We all booked it>
So, we show up on time and guess what???? We are told that there has been a change to their seating plan and what we booked is now not general seating, it is premium seating and there is no room for us on the balcony. They try to seat us in a booth in the back of the room, under the balcony with a totally obstructed view of the show! We try to explain that it is not our fault that they changed their seating so the manager asked us if we wanted to go see the Blue man group on this night and we can see the Cirque show tomorrow and she assured us that we will have the seating that we originally requested. We chose to do this option.
Off to O'Sheehans for a quick bite and went to Blue Man Group. The show was very good!
On to our replacement show for the Cirque show the next night! We arrive and are seated as promised!!! OK, something goes right on this cruise after all!!
We get a look at our bill and YUP, there is that charge for the upgrade to premium seating!!! Should have known that was coming!
I was told that on cruises, just about everything (except liquor) is included!
On the Epic, I found that they want to charge you more for just about everything, or you can watch a demonstration on how to fold towel monkeys or make balloon animals!!!!
This was my first cruise, but the 3 other couples with us do about 5 cruises a year, this was their first time on Epic and we all concur, this will be our LAST TRIP ON EPIC!!!!!
I'm usually not a negative person, and don't usually write reviews, but this trip was so bad that I felt a need to share my experience to warn other petential cruiser to go to a different ship!!!!!
