Epic in 2012

Sail Date: February 2012
Destination: Eastern Caribbean
Embarkation: Miami

Early 60s married couple with experience of 8 cruises. We like the Freestyle with the no schedule meals and varied entertainment venues. We usually select a cruise based on destinations and desire to go to new places.

The Epic had many good offerings and a few things needing improved. First, what we liked were the entertainment (Blue Man; Howl show; 2nd City; Fat Cats); choice of dining options and no set schedule; easy on/off the ship; sightseeing and beaches at St Martin and St Thomas; comfortable cabin and bed.

What we would like to see changed or improved were high cost of internet (this should be at no charge - we want to stay connected without the very high fees); the food was generally bland in all restaurants without any choices for spicy or herbs added as options to add taste; lack of a promenade deck is a negative; allowing smoking in the casino was a detractor to spending time there; the library was subpar and had no view from the reading room.

This More was maybe our first and only cruise on the Epic unless it goes to other ports . We also like HALS and are considering SE Asia, where NCL does not go.

All things considered, we enjoyed the getaway. We would definitely not want cabin 10000 again. The front ship cabins have more swaying motion plus this cabin has restricted water view on the balcony. Less

Cabin review: Norwegian Epic 10000

Cabin balcony had a steel plate that restricted the water view when inside the cabin. Also, there was more swaying movement probably due to being the first cabin in the front of the ship. The bed was comfortable, and I liked the shower, toilet setup, although my wife did not like having the sink next to the bed. We would not want this cabin again.

Beach Break

We went to Orient Beach on the French side and had a great beach day. The lunch was nothing great.

We toured this port on our own and spent time sightseeing and shopping. We also visited a wifi cafe.
