We cruised on the NorDam two years ago. This is the only thing we have as a comparison. The EuroDam looked like a new ship to us. It is very clean and totally maintained.
Yes the vibration is real. We could even feel it in dinning room while in port. Would this keep us from enjoying the Euro dam again? No. But it is really to bad that such a perfect ship should have this problem.
I understand that a library now supports many kinds of media - But the Euro dam has included to many things into this space. It is really not a place to relax with a book or kindle. It is open to the Crows Nest bar. When the bar is closed the space is used for dance lessons and other noisy activities. When the bar is open there is often live music. The space is like a hallway to get to the bar. lots of loud traffic. It is very nice to have a coffee bar nearby but the coffee bar is right in the library. This is the only coffee bar aboard ship so it attracts many more people. If one More
would choose to read in this busy place there are very few comfortable chairs. I ended up reading in some of the bars that were much quieter than the library.
The staff were all amazing. They are proud of their ship and of Holland America Line. Our two cabin stewards served 34 cabins. WOW. They worked long hours but always greeted us with a smile and called us by name. The service was very good.
Both the cabin stewards and the food service staff had less time to visit than we experienced on the NorDam two years ago. If you choose to tip a little extra to the person who delivers your room service breakfast - have the money ready because they are in and out in a flash. We used Dollar coins for extra tipping. This always brought a great smile of appreciation that was always worth more than a dollar.
The Silk Den bar is a little hard to find but well worth a visit. This is a great place to visit with new friends. The bartenders are masters. This is an unhurried place to try something new or to watch the sunset. The best view on board.
We loved the beaches at Turks and Caicos and Half Moon Kay. Both are very convenient. Our 90 year old parents were able to do the beach. Our only complaint would be the food at half Moon.
