Ship Facts: Norwegian Jewel Review (by Cruise Critic!) | Norwegian Jewel Deck Plans
Norweigian Jewel, do not believe the negative reviews!
Having read numerous reviews before sailing, and never having traveled with NCL before so I was skeptical of what we might find on board the Norwegian Jewel. We traveled with a group of 8 ranging in age from 7 to 70 and had the BEST family vacation we have ever taken.

The reviews we read were somewhat less than optimistic about the food and the entertainment on the Jewel. I cannot stress enough how wrong those reviews were.

Starting with the food: The standard dining options were abundant, the food was of excellent quality, and the service was impeccable. We went to 4 of the extra dining options: Mama's Kitchen (Italian, and our favorite), Teppanyakki (Japanese Hibachi),Cagney's Steakhouse, and the Sushi Bar. All of these options provided what I would consider to be 5 star meals at a reasonable price, and very much worth the extra $10-$25.

The entertainment was excellent, every show we attended was enjoyable and family oriented. I would consider the entertainment to be what you would expect on a cruise line, not Broadway, but not far off.

The cabin was a family balcony. The website does not show how the bed drops out of the ceiling to accommodate a full size adult. If you are traveling with 4 adults this cabin will not fit everyone, but small children, ages 5 to 10, will fit comfortably on the small couch pull out.

The staff was amazing! Everyone, and I do mean everyone was friendly, happy, helpful, and willing to do whatever it took for us to enjoy our vacation. On other cruise lines you really get to know your meal servers and bar staff. With the freestyle mantra on NCL, you do not have that direct experience with your meal servers. Because if this, the NCL crew work extra hard to make sure they get to know you. Our room was always meticulous, our steward was accommodating about everything we needed.

Any vacation is what you make it. We read the reviews and went into this trip with our hopes high, and the great people at NCL did not disappoint.

Thank you NCL, we cannot wait to sail with you again!
