Four of us new to cruising young at heart seniors thoroughly enjoyed the Carnival Elation and its fantastic friendly staff. The facilities, bars, shows etc were more than we expected and were the highlights of the 5 day cruise. The dining room, deck and stateroom staffs were incredible. Always smiling and always there to quickly assist us. We are going to miss them.
Some who we will not miss would be the "supposed" staff at the well appointed Gym and spa facility.
Following a much hyped up initiation at the gym, which was more of a sales pitch meeting to encourage one to purchase overpriced massages and spa treatments. We were virtually left to fend for our selves.
Complementary , 7.30 a.m stretching classes were advertised , we dutifully arrived at the gym each morning. To our surprise no one was at the reception desk to issue locker keys and no one showed up to conduct classes at 7'30am
This was a common occurrence throughout the entire 5 day cruise. At about 8am the head instructor would arrive ,unconcerned, disinterested and looking like he had had a long night. When asked re the stretching class he offered no intelligent response and simply went his way ,adjusting the sound system and doing other minor chores.
We are members of a fitness facility and indeed two of us are past owners of a club that is part of acountry wide chain..I assure you the Elation fitnes club staff with this attitude would not be working for us.
Every other staff member on the Elation were exceptional caring and professional they made our cruise a memorable one, and are deserving of commendation and should be rewarded. Unfortunately the lack of concern by some at the Fitness club staff, tarnishes the memory of an unforgettable cruise
