Ship Facts: Monarch of the Seas Review (by Cruise Critic!) | Monarch of the Seas Deck Plans
NEVER AGAIN ON ROYAL CARIBBEAN
Both my wife and I are very forgiving but this cruise was awful and we couldn't wait for it to be over.

Embarkation went well...we had a JR suite which allowed us to stream through check in (priority check-in) which was an unexpected surprise. Being we've cruised before I was expecting to have to wait in line. Unfortunately that was about the only nice thing about this cruise, the room was under the pool deck which was noisy as you could hear people running back and forth. I have made the mistake of booking rooms under the pool deck on other cruise lines...no big surprise that this room was as noisy as the others.

After boarding my wife and I went up to the buffet to grab a quick bite to eat. Unfortunately there wasn't too much available. They had some salads, burgers, pasta, stew, hot dogs and pizza. Unfortunately the buns for the hot dogs and burgers where dried out and hard. There were approximately 20 wait staff for the nearly 120 tables and no one stopped by our table to ask us if we wanted drinks.

The two ports of on this itinerary call where CoCoCay (RCI's privet island) and Nassau, Bahamas. Nassau was ok but not nearly as nice as CoCoCay. The sail away time from Nassau was 11:30pm, which was a bit late for us...we were both in sleeping in our state rooms at 10:30PM. My wife had read that starting at 11:00 pm there was going to be a dance party up on the pool deck, so we both took a sleeping pill to make sure we were out cold well before the party begins as we expected a bit of noise. Unfortunately starting at 11:00 the DJ upstairs instructed everyone to start stomping to the beat and the music could be heard clear as day in my room....there was no way we could sleep through this. I was not impressed at all...

The third night my wife and I went to the dining room for dinner and were seated after waiting about two minutes. Unfortunately, that was the only speedy thing about this dinner. After being seated it took about 10 minutes to get the water and about 5 more minutes to actually order. Needless to say, the rest of the dinner was filled with badly plated dinners that where cold and mushy. However, the desert was well plated and tasted great!
