We flew to Ft. Lauderdale 2 days before departure. We stayed at Hyatt Pier 66. The hotel is located just over the bridge from the port. We could see the ship from our balcony. Hotel was old and needed updating. Pier 66 Grill restaurant, expensive but excellent.

We learned of the issue on Saturday from local news reports. Princess never contacted us. We learned later that passengers were phoned or rec'd emails. Anyway, I called Princess and learned that the departure was delayed as they were disinfecting the ship. We could board at 4 o'clock.

We hung around at the hotel and went to the port at 4:30pm. Princess housed us in the convention center with elite members getting to sit at tables and everyone else on a folding chairs They gave us a $20 credit for lunch. Boarding was pushed back to 6 o'clock & it took 2 hours to board everyone. They had hand held scanners and moved us along pretty quickly but to board 3000 passangers at one time has its problems.
