This was the fifth cruise for DH and I with Carnival. Always before we have come home, wishing to still be sailing. NOT this cruise! We were about ready to fly home from our first port!
The first thing we noticed was NO Calypso music on the Lido Deck! WHAT??!! A Caribbean cruise with no Calypso? Unheard of! On all of our previous cruises, that was the first thing you noticed when boarding; the festive atmosphere and the Calypso music, the very thing needed to get you in a festive, party mood!!
Then we were told we could not smoke on the deck in the smoking area or on our balcony, as they were "fueling" the ship. This was around 5:30 p.m. They finished "fueling" at 3:00 a.m.! All other ships had plenty of smoking areas on the outdoor decks, and always HALF the deck on Lido. Not on this ship. There are 50 seats for smokers in the MIDDLE of a nonsmoking section! Half the time, the few seats that were for smokers, were taken by nonsmokers who were playing games, eating meals, etc.
