Ship Facts: Ruby Princess Review (by Cruise Critic!) | Ruby Princess Deck Plans
Review Ruby Eastern Carb
Embarkation: easy, we had preferred passes. Non preferred line was long. We arrived one day early and rented a van from Dollar Rent a Car( $45.00). Car return is right at port entrance. We unloaded luggage, other couples and returned van and took shuttle back to ship. Easy without luggage. One couple had late flight on the Sunday we returned, they rented a small car for about $16.00 from Dollar for the day, it worked out well for them( yes I did say $16.00 for the day) Suggestion: rent car early, but keep checking back ,the rates actually dropped one week before we left!! However I prefer to stay closer to port and use hotel shuttle as we did other cruises from Ft Lauderdale.

Send off party was very lively, started cruise off right.

Cruise: Virus hit ship on 3rd or 4th day. Commend ship for being up front on the problem. We washed hands and did all their suggestions and did not get sick. A little inconvenience, but did not deter us from a good cruise. Seems the crew has to work harder.

Horizon Court: Some lines in morning, custom omelets were great. Cafe Caribe for overflow.

Cafe Caribe: Had dinner there one time, really liked the room

Hamburgers/Pizza: Open till 11PM every day....How dare they do this to me!!!

The wait staff and food at these areas were terrific.

In the morning pizza area served great waffles

Crown Room: First time on a ship with Crown. Much better than Sterling Steak House on other Princess ships. Other reviews said an extra charge for lobster, We all had lobster , no extra charges only the $25.00 and charges for cocktails. Service and atmosphere were great. Veal chop was very good.

Cigar Room: We are not smokers, however we played the "cigar experts" and had great after dinner drinks, cigars and fun looking important !! Lots of fun with the server in the room. The room is not smokey and a lot of fun to finish off an evening.

Anytime Dining: no problems, short wait some nights, good food and service.

International Cafe: We had a coffee card from other cruises, good morning stuff, good lunch stuff, good dessert stuff.

Platinum /elite cocktail hour: went about 4 nights, not crowed at all, nice way to start the evening with reduced price cocktails and free appetizers.

Movie under Stars: I thought this was a bad idea when first introduced....however we do like the concept, who knew. We saw Money Ball and Paul McCarthy Concert.

Best stop: Grand Turk. Arrived at 1PM. Beach is right at the ship. Free chairs, free swimming pool. Flow rider for boogie boards($30.00 per hour).

Island has 3700 people, two ships in port (Carnival Glory), so more tourist the residents. Water was warm, plenty of chairs, plenty of food to buy,or go back to ship, it is that convenient. Walked to Jacks ( others reviewed) was not impressed. One of our party did Scuba diving excursion with ship , he liked it, you leave right from the beach. I think there is private scuba you can do also. We have been to the other stops before, really like Grand Turk.

Did not have time for any shows this trip.

Ruby does not have a covered indoor pool.

Disembark: Easy, except there were a lack of cabs. So we got in a van shuttle for $10.00 each, next time we will use the shuttle, just as easy and less than cab.
