We boarded in Miami quickly and were able to get in our cabin about 1:30. Muster drill was quick. You don't have to wear life jackets anymore. They said they were having engine trouble and told us they weren't going to stop at Nassau by handing out papers before we got on the boat. Later on, they came back and collected the papers. That night, our newsletter said we were going to the port. We got there late. There was severe shaking of the boat the whole cruise. In addition to the shaking, when we were on our way back to Miami, the seas were rough and rocking was added to the shaking. We were over an hour late into St. Thomas, so we missed our prepaid excursion we had booked at that port. We have been trying to get our $200 deposit back, but they said it was non-refundable. That was the only bad to the cruise.
The staterooms were kept clean, as was the whole ship. I enjoyed the teas, towel folding, games and the cooking show. The staff was friendly. The entertainment was good for the cruise. If you want a Broadway show, go to Broadway. The shows were entertaining. We really enjoyed the dancing and singing. The comedy shows were where there was a great difference. The first thing was the family friendly comedians. Those shows weren't that well attended. You could get a seat even if you were late. There were 4 different comedians. The only good one was Percy Cruise 2. The other ones couldn't come up with any family friendly material. The same applied to the adult shows. Two of them were just ok, one was terrible as he dropped the f bomb every other word and he wasn't funny, but Percy was great. If you didn't get there early, you had to stand. Many of the shows were lined up out the door. The last night, they had a fun farewell party in the comedy lounge and there wasn't hardly anyone there. The reason was they didn't advertise it. It was just a small line with no explanation on the schedule. If they had said free alcohol, it would have been well attended. I'm sure that's why they didn't advertise it very well.
The food in the dining room was good. I read on the reviews before we came that it was always lukewarm. Our food was hot every meal. Our dinners were always good and came in a timely manor. If there was something we didn't like, they bent over backwards to make it right. The dining room staff was also very good. I did find out by overhearing the assistant waiter at another table that the assistant waiters only make $1200 per month. They work about 13-14 hour days. That's a lot of hard work and dedication. They make the dining experience so much better. The alternative dining options were also good.
Overall, we had a great time, would do this itinerary again and would definitely cruise on Carnival again.
