We were looking forward to our holiday as I have just retired and the cruise would be the icing on the cake to start my retirement. Buffet restaurant food was either cold or lukewarm some days unable to find a table so we went without you would have thought that the Italians and Germans had been starved for months on end the way they used to pile food on there plates and then fill there bags with food we had to by our water there was a water cooler which said NOT to fill bottles but to purchase from cabin or ships shop. The waiters were often rude or could not understand what was said the food in the Red Velvet restaurant was OK, but the best was THE MEX restaurant and the waiters were really friendly the food was excellent. Entertainment was poor it was geared for the Italians and Germans they even had a special night for the Germans. There was no English entertainment, there was smoking all over the ship which we found quite daunting everywhere we went there was smoking it was horrible. NO LIFEBOAT EMERGENCY DRILL was completed, when we arrived in the cabin we were told to read the written information where our muster station was "in light of the Italians" loosing a ship, where people lost there lives we found this unacceptable. We will not use MSC again if you are Italian its fine but I think if MSC are looking to ENCOURAGE English and Americans then they need to think about the entertainment area and ask there staff to learn how to smile. The last thing is the cost of the drinks and service charges there were a lot of unhappy people when they received they bills, our own bill was nearly 900 euros that was for drinks one excursion and service charge which was automatically billed to you (6)euros per/person per/day I feel that it is up to us who we tip this is what we have always done on our others cruises also we paid a 15% service charge on every drink we had and that was even when you went to the bar and got the drink yourself we should have refused to pay like a lot of people did but being English we didn't complain. We were a party of 4 and this summary has the input of us all.

What we saw of this place looked lovely great shopping place but because it was so bitterly cold we were literally in and out this would be a lovely place to visit in the summer.

This was the best the pope gave us his blessing which was quite moving the guide was brilliant he really knew what he was talking about took us to many places of interest this is a place you need at least 4 days to take everything in we are booking 4/5 day break in the summer to return to this lovely place.
Been before its one of those places you either love or hate but you can almost rely on the weather being warm in Jan/Feb/march
