Silhouette Jan 5-17, 2012 Eastern Caribbean

Sail Date: January 2012
Destination: Eastern Caribbean
Embarkation: Other

This was a wonderful cruise, we were expecting the worst at embarkment based on the reviews for the earlier cruises out of Cape Liberty.

We arrived 2 days early and decided to enjoy NYC, stayed in Time Square, toured around met up with family, did the tourist thing.

We took the train fromTime Square out to Newport NJ then hopped onto the light rail got off at 33 & E - got a cab for a total of $14 ( for 2 people) versus getting a private car at a cost of $85.

We were expecting to stand in line for about 1.5-2 hrs based on what we read from previous cruises but it was only about 15 minutes, they had made some changes which was good for us.

We have cruises on the Equinox twice and the Silhouette is just as nice, some better restaurant options, we loved Qsine and the Lawn Club Grill is a FUN evening. Getting to cook your own food with the help of a chef is definitely something everyone should do, truly a fun and relaxed evening.

Shopping is More definitely on the higher end, not so sure that is necessary as the average cruiser isn't going to spend there dollars on the ship versus in the ports.

Weather was chilly for the first 3 days ( at sea,) but once we reached the islands it was amazing, hot hot hot!

We have booked another cruise for the fall, just love cruising with Celebrity. Less

Cabin review: Celebrity Silhouette Concierge Class Panorama Deck (9) 1188

our cabin was towards the back of the boat, I really liked it, other then the walk to the elevators , but then can be considered exercise. We had concierge class and its definitely worth all the extras.

Port and Shore Excursions

We did an excursion at this port, we did the Canopy Tree top zip lining probably the best excursion to-date for any cruise we have done. Only 4 hours total time that includes your ride out and back, the staff at the Center were professional and made sure safety was paramount . We will do this again if we visit,

lovely city, we were only there till 2 in the afternoon, we arrived on the day the BIG Saint Day Celebration , and our time was limited. We did a carriage ride around the old part of the town, what a nice way to see the city.

our least favorite, the boat docks on the commercial side of the island, too expensive via a cab to go into town and people not so nice. I would definitely make this another at sea day, nothing special here.

This port is really nice and clean !! Probably some of the best shopping on the islands !! lots of restaurants to choose from too. Lots of activities to choose from available on shore.

We really like this port, friendly people , lots to see within walking distance of the ship, we only go on shore for the mornings so we can enjoy the afternoon by the pool.
