Our sailaway was on Jan 29 for 7 days on the Eastern Caribbean. This was our 30th cruise, but our first on the Solstice. There were very few complaints by the passengers as we had Select dining and met many people at dinner. I will not bore you with some items that are usually discussed, but with a few items worthy of noting.

This ship is very clean. As I write, the Crown and Ruby Princess ships have been hit by the Noro Virus, but the Solstice does not have that problem. The rest room attendants were at the restrooms near the Main Dining Room all the time during the dinner hours. After every person, they would mop the water droplets off the floor. My wife got to know one of the attendants better than any cruiser!

There were 7 ships in St Maarten and we were the only ship to tender. The Captain and the CD pointed out that you will go from the ship to the downtown pier with less walking without paying the ferry price than if you did it from a cruise pier. Nice point, but the bad news is that it was not until noon that there was open tender service. You could get your tender ticket in the morning, but wait until you number came up. The drop off point is not at the main ferry pier, but at another pier further away.
