This was our first cruise on Carnival and for the price, it was a good choice for us. Due to the fog, the ship was late getting into Galveston but that was fine with us as we only live 20 minutes away.
We didn't care much for the layout of the ship. Walking through the pool area everytime we wanted to go eat at the buffet was a bit awkward. The food was mostly good and there was plenty of it. My husband loved the Deli sandwiches.
Dinner in the MDR was really good and we had a great table. Formal night was lots of fun. We had the lobster and the chocolate melting cake was to die for.
Our cabin was on the spa deck and although we didn't care to be so high up, the cabin was just fine. Very comfortable and quiet, except for the foghorn every 5 minutes on the first night out of Galveston. We finally cleared the fog and the horn stopped around 3 AM. After that, we slept like a baby.
Didn't get off the ship in Progresso but enjoyed the ship itself. We've been to Cozumel a couple of times so that was nothing to get all excited about.
Getting off the ship was a breeze. Driving home was even easier.
This cruise was meant to be relaxing and that's what it was. I would recommend Carnival for anyone, young or old. Just don't compare every little thing with other cruise lines and you won't be disappointed at all. Carnival does a very good job in my opinion. For those of you who think Carnival is "the Walmart of cruising", Stick to the higher priced cruise lines and you'll make both of us happy. :)
