Winter cruise to the Canaries

Sail Date: January 2012
Destination: Canary Islands
Embarkation: Southampton

we booked this cruise with slight apprehension having read some negative reviews.however thought we'd give it a go and we neednt have worried at all.this was our 4th cruise and i must say the best we have been on,(previously been on the grand princess, sea princess and P&O ventura).
the ship....the ship itself is massive, and we have to say beautiful.kept spick and span by the hardworking crew.the pool areas were lovelly and we could always find a sunbed, even on sea days.the ship inside was stunning .the promenade area was great,a real focal point of the ship, lined with shops and restaurants.there was the hard sell for duty free etc but nobody is forced to buy anything.there was also plenty of quiet areas to sit in.
food....we had first sitting in the romeo and juliet dining room.could not fault the food plenty of choice and always very good.i have wheat and dairy intolerance and the wait staff were brilliant.i ordered my food the night before for the next night so that it was More prepared specially and could not fault it.the windjammer was also good and again with very helpful staff i could always find something to eat.also had gluten free pizza in sorrentos pizza bar, again fine.my husband can eat anything and he was spoilt for choice.there was also plenty of juices and squashes freely available at mealtimes.
entertainment.....could not be faulted.loved the parties on the promenade deck.plenty of shows and entertainment.also regular quizzes, talks, casino etc etc.
cabin.....had a inside cabin, plenty of storage space, good shower.not loads of room, but we were never very long in the cabin anyway.
staff.....all were brilliant.very friendly and helpful.all of the staff were hardworking but always had a smile.
other passengers....heard lots of moans from other passengers,'the ship is too big''too many people'to'the weather is bad'.....hello........you were on a winter cruise on the largest cruise ship in europe...what do you expect!!! believe me there was nothing at all to moan about.
great cruise,great ship,great staff,great food,great entertainment...nothing else to say. Less
