We are 2 people in their 70's who have done a number of cruises and have just returned from a round the Horn cruise on Star Princess. We booked a pre cruise option at the Intercontinental in Santiago and a Post cruise option in Rio at the Marriott. Included was transport from Hotel ship in Valparaiso. Embarkation was uneventful but crowded. The agents suggest we embark after 2pm but their coach got us there at noon. Our stateroom was a mini suite due to the fact that Princess balcony staterooms are much smaller than Celebrity and Royal Caribbean. The mini suite was the same size. It did contain a bath as well as a shower which the other line only had a shower. There was far more storage space than the other lines. We had no complaints about the ship. Dining was adequate but nothing to rave about. The speciality restaurant Crown grill was not up to scratch as the meat was not well cooked and very leathery. Sabbatinis was excellent. A big plus was the anytime dining option which the other lines did not have. We did not avail ourselves of the childrens clubs but found the acivities very good. Enterainmen ws adequate but not as good as the other lines. We only used one shore excursion and had no complaints. The number of shops on board did not compare to the other lines nore was the Atrium area big enough. We had to change our disembarkation time and the crew member who handled it did not give us all the facts and we had to make our own way to the hotel and not use the provided transport to the hotel. We were very disappointed in the communication between the Captain and the passengers with regard to cancelling the scenic cruising round the Horn as well as not being allowed ashore at the Falklands. This was possibly political. In conclusion for any first time cruiser this could have been a holiday of a lifetime but in comparison with other lines it fell far short. We will not Use Princess again

Balcony did not have a roof. We were not told about this on booking. We had no privacy and no shade.
