My parents and I reserved the 2 bedroom Family Penthouse on the NCL Star, we were promised great things and on first sight it was even more spectacular than we expected. I knew I would be living for the week in the second bedroom, which consisted of a pull out couch and was well prepared for that. However, what I was not prepared for was that the amenities stopped at my doorway from the rest of the Penthouse.
Once the couch was pulled out to a bed, no padding was added and a rubber sheet served as a barrier between me and the couch. The pillows were small, thin and hard, also with rubber coverings. There wasn't any top sheet and the 'duvet' did not fit the size of the bed, and the 1/4 inch foam that was in it was only 2/3 the size of the duvet. This top covering also did not reach from the foot of the bed to the top. NCL promised luxury bedding, with down pillows and comforters, and a pillow menu.....which to be fair was on the master bed.
Also upon checking the bathroom, again, none of the promised amenities made it this far. There wasn't any upgraded shampoo, conditioner, body wash, boxed luxury soap, loofah (although the wash cloth was rough enough to serve as one) or lotion. There were not over-sized towels, robes or slippers.
If you are in the master suite (or big bedroom) great.....if you are in the second (or smaller bedroom) stay home.
