We cruised with Carnival three years ago (same ship) and noticed some changes this time around and not for the better.
The biggest disappointment would have to be the quality and even the quantity or availability of the food.
The buffet was closed between lunch and dinner which meant if you did not have lunch before it closed down, you were outta luck unless you wanted yet another pizza (tasteless) or another burger (very good but not something I wanted to have EVERY day).
We dined in the dining room only once because the quality of our meal was so poor we did not want to return. My husband had turkey which was definitely processed and disgusting.
The steak was so undercooked we had to forego that as well.
Also, the supposed unlimited fountain drinks was anything but. Imagine being told that you cannot have 2 Coke's to take with you to your room or to your lounge chair, that you can only order one at a time and must drink the 1st one before you will be given More
a second?! My husband is almost 50yrs old and was made to feel like a 6yr old. This meant going to the bar, lining up, getting your single Coke (which by the way was only about 1/2 a can and the other 1/2 was kept at the bar to be used as mix) walking back to your spot in the sun or making your way back to your cabin, drinking your pop and then going back to the bar and asking for a second. Ridiculous after spending almost $50 for the card! Also, if you order one from room service you will be charged $3 because the drink card does not apply!
On a positive note, the cabin was very nice as were the staff and they have long days of hard work and putting up with cranky guests so I give them full credit for being so helpful and friendly! The ship itself is still quite nice so no complaints there.
Our ports of call were: Half Moon Cay (beautiful beach but nothing else), St. Thomas (pretty island, great shopping), San Juan (our favourite for sure and would definitely like to return) and Grand Turk which was a flat almost barren island with nothing more than another beach to sit at.
Embarkation was a lot easier with customer service agents in the past than it is now. Sometimes technology does not make things move faster!
Will we cruise again? Definitely but next time we will try another cruise line. Less
