This was our first cruise on Carnival, and we chose to cruise the first week after the new year due to job considerations. There were not a lot of children on board. The rowdy crowds so noted in other cruise reviews for Carnival also seemed to be missing. That being said, we did witness one passenger telling a crew member to F-off, because he was told to stop texting while going to the safety drill. We (other passengers and myself), did let it be known we didn't appreciate his attitude. He didn't seem to care. I wish the crew had the authority to boot people off the ship sometimes.

We flew into Tampa several days ahead of the cruise to spend time with friends. It is $4 to obtain a luggage cart at the Tampa airport. We rented a Hertz car, as they are the only rental company that has return privileges at the dock area. You have to call Hertz directly to make the reservations. Tell them you are returning the car to the Marriott Waterside in Tampa. There is no extra charge. You drop your car off at valet parking, and there will be a Hertz shuttle to take you to the ship. there does not seem to be any gas stations in downtown Tampa, so you need to fill up before you hit downtown.

Bring along a lot of $5's for tips. The Hertz guy, the porters, the guy at the hotel who puts your bags in the Hertz van. It gets pricey.
