Ship Facts: Carnival Glory Review (by Cruise Critic!) | Carnival Glory Deck Plans
Quite a nice surprise
This was our first cruise on a Carnival ship and we were pleasantly surprised by the atmosphere on board , the quality of the entertainment and the food. We had cruised so far on many of the major cruise lines such as Royal Caribbean, Norwegian , Princess , HAL , Cunard ,Costa , MSC and others but we never had the opportunity to try a Carnival ship .

-Embarkation

We sailed out of Miami which is a very nice and clean port . The embarkation process was slow and mainly because there were already a lot of passengers at 11.30 am but only half of the attendants were on station . The pace really picked up once an additional group of attendants showed up at 12.00hrs

We were told that the Lido Buffet was opened and that our cabin would be ready at around 2.00 pm at the latest ( it was ). The safety drill was done at 4.00 pm and it was efficient .

-Food

We were impressed by the quality and the selection of the food at dinner time . There was 8 different starters , 12 different entrees offered at the main dining room every evening and we did not have any bad selection even though we tried everything that seemed a bit unusual !

We had lunch both at the Buffet and at the dining room . Even though it was not as impressive as dinner , again we found that the choice was excellent and the quality of the preparation comparable to the other major cruise lines .

Breakfast was something else ! It was the worse we have ever had on any cruise line . Eggs were overcooked , toasts were mushy ,potatoes were oily , selection of fruits was minimized and they ran out of grapefruit juice after 4 days . The taste of coffee varied a lot from one machine to the others .

-Entertainment

Overall the BEST we have ever had after 20 cruises !!! The shows were excellent , the stand up comics were hilarious and the music provided at the bars was very good . Activities around the pool were interesting and well attended .

-Service

Very good , quite comparable to what we are used to with other cruise lines .

-Spa and Gym

Very good equipment but it was very crowded in the Gym probably because it was at the beginning of January ( resolutions !)

-Ports of call

It was a good mix ! We enjoyed Grand Cayman and Cozumel ; Costa Maya was a last minute substitute for Belize and we were a bit disappointed and we did not like Roatan : everything was too expensive !

-Fellow passengers

It was quite diversified : people of all ages including 432 children so it was a bit noisy very late in the evening but it did not matter as it was expected at this time of the year !

Overall we had a good time , it was a good value for the money and we will sail with Carnival again
