We just returned from a 7 day vacation on Carnival Legend with a group of 11 of us. While we enjoyed the cruise overall, we had issues with a couple of things about the ship. First, we had a disabled passenger with us, who needed a wheelchair. Our cruise had two ports where you had to tender in and they had no ability to get people off the ship if you couldn't walk a flight of steps. They even sold tour tickets to one couple, only to then turn them away at the ship exit. I think they should be more upfront about limitations on their handicap accessibility. These people missed seeing half the ports.

Secondly, Carnival Legend allows smoking in large areas outside, on balconies, in the casino and other bars and open areas on the ship. The air exchange on the second deck was poor so you had to inhale smoke if you were any where near the casino. We heard many passengers say they wouldn't even go near the casino because of the smoke.

Other than that, we had a great time. The staff were great - overworked, but great. Desserts were better than the last time we sailed on Carnival. They did a nice job of getting people on and off the ship at the beginning and end of the cruise and on shore days (with exception of above - handicapped folks). It felt like there were fewer staff in staterooms and dining rooms, but those folks hustled and got the job done - and were cheerful while doing it. In the future we'll probably stick with Celebrity.
