Our 5th cruise - first on Celebrity. Will definitely use them again. Ship is older and showing some wear, but still very nice. Not an overly dramatic ship - just well put together and maintained. Some new carpet, curtains, and bedspreads would improve appearances.
Days at sea - plenty to do without being inundated with inane pool activities or tacky group games. Not enough lounging space around the pool. Possibly due to lack of deck space/chairs on the ship as a whole.
Ports: Jamaica: shocked at the amount of security and the concertina wire around the pier. Only island we've ever seen that. Dunns falls was a great excursion. Climbing somewhat strenuous. Jamaica had more people asking for tips than anywhere else. Tablemates enjoyed Margaritaville, and wished we had done that. Grand Cayman: Ivan REALLY devastated the island. The beaches are not as good as they used to be, and the shopping is limited to a few short blocks on the main drag. Snorkeling cancelled due to rough seas. Tendering into port was a bad experience, people had to wait over an hour to get back to ship, and boats were not accessible for people with mobility problems. Cozumel: its Mexico, and its a spring break town. Nice pier area. Friends snorkeled and had a great experience. Did the Mexican ruins tour - good to see, but a 6 hour excursion had almost 4 hours total travel time (ferry and bus). Not worth the money. Wish we had snorkeled. Wife shopped. Typical Mexican goods with some upscale jewelry. Best part of the day was the fun at Carlos and Charlies'. Just like being back in college again. Key West: didn't have high expectations, and got what I expected. Weather was cold(!!) which eliminated snorkeling. Shopped and did the bars in town. It was ok. Then back to Ft Lauderdale. Embarkation was simple, arrived at 2 and welcomed by champagne or juice (nice touch). Disembarkation was simple, but people went nuts trying to be the first one off, first one on the bus, etc. Immigration had been done in Key West, making it easier in Ft. Lauderdale.
